I began my journey in the nutrition field by researching antioxidants. These bioactive compounds combat free radicals, which can harm cells and their functions in the human body. Antioxidants, along with other invaluable compounds, are abundant in plant-based foods like vegetables and fruits. However, data indicates that we're not consuming nearly enough of them—according to Eurostat, in 2019, only 12% of European citizens reported eating the recommended five portions a day!
